Victorian Association of Maternal and Child Health Nurses 

The Victorian Association of Maternal and Child Health Nurses Inc (VAMCHN) is Victoria's peak professional body committed to the advancement of maternal and child health nursing.

The purpose of the Association is to:

  • To continue the work and activities of the preceding VAMCHN groups. (I think it is important to have this first to reassure everyone that the overriding intention is to carry on the work of the previous groups.)
  • To promote the professional, industrial and educational interests of members through representation at State and Local government, conferences, projects and research relevant to MCHN.
  • To provide peer support, networking opportunities and resources for members relevant to their practice.
  • To recognise excellence in MCH Service and provide scholarships for members.

To promote the professional and educational interests of MCH Nurses

  • To promote the professional and educational interests of Maternal & Child Health Nurses (MCH)
  • To provide peer support and networking for exchange of knowledge and experience
  • To raise the public profile of MCH nurses in metropolitan and rural areas
  • To continue working in close liaison with Australian Nursing & Midwifery Federation (ANMF Vic Branch)
  • To liaise with the Department of Education & Training (DET), the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS), the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) and other related government departments on issues related to the MCH service
